Huskies to Honor Women Athletes

Huskies to Honor Women Athletes

The National Girls and Women in Sports Day is coming up soon. This year, the event will be held on Saturday, March 3rd. The Washington Huskies are proud to honor this special day with a conference for girls in 4th through 8th grades. Parents are also encouraged to attend this event. Activities begin at 10:30 am and end at 1 pm. Following the festivities, a free lunch will be provided for attendees.

Part of the National Girls and Women in Sports Day involves a meet-and-greet with some of the female Husky athletes. Female coaches and other employees from the athletic department will also be on hand. Some of the teams represented include volleyball, cheerleading, gymnastics, and soccer.

You may be wondering why the Lady Huskies basketball team is not participating. This is because Saturday, March 3rd is a game day for the squad. Guests are in luck, because their attendance at the conference also entitles them to watch the game which immediately follows the luncheon.

All of these activities, including admission to the basketball game, are free. That’s right; there is absolutely no charge to attend, if you are one of the first 100 to register. If you’d like to sign your daughter up for this event, you can do so by sending an email to Randy Berridge at rberridge@ica.washington.edu.  Those who are ineligible to attend the National Girls and Women in Sports Day or who do not make the cutoff for free admission can purchase tickets to the game by calling 206-543-2200.
